Spring Cleaning Drop-Off Locations that Benefit Local Non-Profits

  • Out with the old, and in with the new! If you’re thinking it might be time to start a spring closet, garage, or house clean-out, you’re not alone. While Goodwill is an awesome place to drop off gently used items for a good cause here and nationally, we wanted to create a list of local nonprofits and consignment shops that will benefit our local community! Check out a few options below.


Hands of Grace at Grace Community Foursquare Church

Hands of Grace helps provide free clothing and food to residents of Kokomo and surrounding areas.

Location: 2012 S. Goyer Road, Kokomo, IN 46902
Hours: 4 to 6 p.m. Monday and 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday
Needs: New or gently used sheets and bedding. Men’s and women’s socks, and clothing for cold weather.
Things to Avoid Donating at Hands of Grace: Furniture


Gilead House Inc. 

The Gilead House, Inc. is a caring team of advocates working to help restore and rebuild individuals and families in Kokomo.

Location: 406 E. Sycamore St., Kokomo, IN 46901
Hours: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays
Needs: Clothing and shoes of all sizes for women ages 18 to 40 years old, as well as housing items for the women when they move out.


The Shepherd's Cove Clothing Pantry

The Shepherd's Cove Clothing Pantry is a faith-based ministry assisting people in need by supplying clothing and information for the betterment of the people in Greentown and its surrounding areas. 

Location: 332 W. Payton St., Greentown, IN 46936
Hours: The third Saturday of every month from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. 
Needs: New and gently used clothing and shoes in all sizes, linens, new underwear, and they are specifically in need of men’s jeans.

Family Service Association of Howard County 

FSA is a non-profit agency dedicated to empowering vulnerable families and individuals Kokomo and Howard County

Location: 618 S. Main St., Kokomo, IN 46901
Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday 
Needs: Gently used pots, pans and dishes. 
Things to Avoid Donating to FSA: Clothing


The Care and Share Store 

The Care and Share Store downtown benefits the Kokomo Rescue Mission and helps fight homelessness with your donations.

Location: 321 W. Mulberry St., Kokomo, IN 46901
Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday
Needs: Donations of clothing, furniture, appliances, bedding and other items are accepted at the warehouse behind the store. 
Things to Avoid Donating to The Kokomo Rescue Mission: Mattresses/box springs, pianos, pool tables paint, chemicals, tires and car parts, VHS players, tapes, and fax machines.


Bona Vista Programs

Bona Vista offers 10 programs designed to help each individual it serves with his or her personal goals, needs and independence.

Location: 1220 E. Laguna St., Kokomo, IN 46902
Hours:
8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
Needs:
Gently used art supplies, craft items, games, puzzles, and books. They would also love gardening supplies (planters, pots, etc), as well as outdoor toys like jump ropes, sports equipment, or hula hoops.
Things to Avoid Donating to Bona Vista: Bona Vista does not accept stuffed animals, pillows, or bedding. Bona Vista is currently not accepting clothing.
