Kokomo Is So Boring.
There’s never anything to do in this town. Ever.
By THE KOKOMO POST STAFF
At The Kokomo Post, we hate how boring Kokomo is. There’s never anything fun to do in this small town and even though we spent hours searching for things to do, we couldn’t find anything except the 200 or so activities, businesses and experiences below. It’s a shame there’s nothing going on.
Family Friendly | Fitness | Art | History | Nature | Nightlife | Annual | Venues | Local Shopping | Local Eats
FAMILY-FRIENDLY
It's so lame that there's only 30 family-friendly activities in Kokomo. There's only a family aquatic center, a free splash pad, golf simulator and a dozen other options. It's great if you like action, activity, free events, arts, crafts and memories — but who wants those?
Koko-Go Free Ride
Free bike-share program with bicycles for adults and children to explore our massive trail system. Lame.
Fired Arts Studio
Who wants to design and paint your own pottery and then come back for your beautiful creation after someone has fired it in a kiln for you? What about classes for children and families? Sounds pitiful.
Kokomo Art Association’s Artworks Gallery and Kokomo Art Center
There are two spots in Kokomo where you and your family can find art and classes. If you hate quality time and making memories as a family, don’t go here.
The Zone
Childlike energy and fun of laser tag in a huge facility? That’s just childish.
Gravity Trampoline Park
Cavernous facility with trampolines, foam pits, a rock climbing wall and brand new zip lines? More foolishness.
Sun King Kokomo
Family-friendly taproom in the Buckeye Street Depot District with board games, indoor and outdoor seating, a pocket park next door and tons of locally brewed craft beers. We just don’t understand why there’s nothing good in Kokomo.
Kokomo Beach
Huge aquatic center with a lazy river, water slides and splash pads. Yuck.
Chuck E. Cheese
Dozens of arcade games, activities, prizes and shockingly good pizza? Nah. There’s nothing to do with kids in Kokomo.
Kokomo Family YMCA
This brand new, state-of-the art facility features a double gymnasium, two pools, a kids’ splash pad, sauna, steam room, expansive wellness center, community gathering space and a list of group fitness classes a mile long. Plus it gives back to the community in a million ways.
Al Berryman Splash Pad
A free community splash pad open for the entire community? Pass.
City of Firsts Adventure Park
Go-karts, arcade games and mini golf — all conveniently located across the street from one of the city’s favorite ice cream shops? There is nothing to do here.
Rhum Academy of Music
A world-class team of educators teaching kids to sing, play, instruments and become accomplished musicians and artists? Fine, if you love great music and seeing kids develop their gifts. But what if you hate all music and children?
Whisper Studios
A boutique recording studio and mixing/mastering house that works with some of the most innovative creatives and emerging artists in the industry. Pfft.
Heritage Lanes
Cosmic bowling, great pub food, an arcade
and old-fashioned fun? Blech.
Skate Parks
Nationally recognized skate parks that draw skaters from all over the area? Ugh. Why don’t we have anything good here?
Click here for the Jackson Morrow skate park website
Kokomo Downtown Farmers Market
More than 30 vendors gathering in downtown Kokomo with fresh produce, meats, crafts, wines, live music and educational opportunities for kids? Nope.

Avoid this free concert series unless you like an incredible variety of nationally touring artists, in a beautiful setting, right along the Wildcat Creek, plus a fantastic beer garden.
Kokomo BobKats
A professional basketball team with incredible talent, playing their hearts out in historic Memorial Gymnasium. Pass on this unless you like sports, fun and community.

If you hate supporting college athletes from around the country play at a beautiful and well-maintained facility throughout the spring and summer, don’t come to Kokomo Municipal Stadium.
Kokomo Vipers Soccer Team

AMC Movie Theater
Twelve screens, addictive popcorn, latest releases — and now the ability to rent an entire theater at a time. Unless you’re looking for a nostalgic way to experience something on the big screen, don’t go here.
Kokomo Howard County Public Library
Other cities have good libraries. All ours has is a renowned genealogy department, an entire technology area with 3D printers, green screens, podcasting studio, and the fastest Internet in the game. Audiobooks, video, entertainment, and of course, so. many. books. If you hate being able to borrow a Cricut, a pressure washer or giant yard games for free, definitely don’t go here.
Wrangler and Friends
Avoid this place at all costs unless you like animals, horses, birthday parties, riding lessons and camps to keep kids learning.
Kokomo Flipsters
Cavernous facility with gymnastics programming, ninja training programs and one-time events.
Bethea Karate Studio
World-class martial arts studio in the heart of downtown Kokomo with a legacy of excellence.
Art and Nature Workshop
We guess this place is ok if you’re into picturesque settings where children can explore nature and create take-home art. You know, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Kokomo Speedway
The adrenaline rush from the high-speed action. It’s not like Indiana likes racing or anything.
Kokomo Howard County Public Library Bookmobile
Can’t get to the library? Well, the library actually comes to you with the Bookmobile. But who wants to encourage children throughout our city to learn and read?
Visiting Old Ben and The Sycamore Stump
Scanlines Arcade
Who would want to play nostalgic pinball games until late at night with their kids? Not us.

FITNESS
We hate how there are no options to stay fit in Kokomo. All we have is trapeze yoga, stand-up paddleboarding, 24-hour mega gyms, community-driven YMCAs, boutique fitness facilities, Crossfit, Kangoo fitness, and a handful of others. They say variety is the spice of life, and obviously with this small list, Kokomo is bland.
TraPoga
Trapeze yoga? We want something inventive and interesting and totally new.
City of Firsts Fitness/The Fieldhouse CrossFit
Functional training for all ages, shapes and sizes — taught by a team with an exceptional amount of experience and a proven track record of success? Who wants that when trying to get in shape?

Don’t try CrossFit Kokomo unless you’re looking for a community of people to support and encourage you, no matter where you are in your fitness journey.
SUP Yoga

Enormous yearly running program for kids to foster a love of running, determination and independence.

Kokomotion USA Gymnastics
Incredible gymnastics facility in Kokomo.
POWER P Bounce Kokomo
Definitely do not give this a try unless you like laughing, having fun and experiencing joy. Kangoo Fitness is low-impact and easy on the joints, but incredibly high on sweat and smiles.
Kristie Wright School of Dance
Well-respected studio teaching countless young people the art of dance, in all forms.
Legacy Dance Academy
Great cities have plenty of choices to teach their kids the art of dance. All we have is a studio with a ton of history — formerly Beck Seamster Dance — operating under a new name with years and years of teaching talent to guide a new generation of students.
The Split Sole Clogging Connection
A positive and encouraging atmosphere for children and adults to learn clogging? Sounds lame to us.
Dance Elite
Another incredible option for dancers in the Kokomo area. If you hate meeting new people with similar interests as you, avoid this studio!
Kokomo Family YMCA
Good cities have variety at their YMCAs. All we have is a Y with an eight-lane lap pool a warm-water instructional pool, a racquetball court, sauna, steam room, double gymnasium, kids play area, four fitness studios, state-of-the-art wellness center dozens of classes, youth sports, swim lessons, community room, and special events and programs. How boring.

A 24-hour infrared fitness studio & gym with hot yoga, pilates, barre, cycle and HIIT workouts, all in a private setting? Not worth your time!

Rock Steady Boxing
Rock Steady Boxing doesn’t make a difference or provide a sense of community for those facing the battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Pilato Kokomo
Affordable and private Pilates classes? Why would that make a difference to anybody?
Water Walking at Kokomo Beach

Just another in the long list of Kokomo’s public art spaces. This one features yearly exhibits from notable artists.

Seiberling Mansion/Historical Society
Stunning mansion in the Silk Stocking District that is home to the historical society, as well as countless annual events connecting people to Kokomo’s rich history.
Elwood Haynes Museum
It’s not like Kokomo has a rich history of automotive heritage or anything, so who would want to learn about some of the contributions to the auto industry?
Grissom Air Museum
Just north of Kokomo is another lame museum that just features 24 historic aircraft from the Cold War era on display and allows you to jump into a cockpit and fly flight simulators.
NATURE

Industrial Heritage Trail
Incredible system of bricked and paved trails weaving throughout Kokomo, flanking the Wildcat Creek at sections, and connecting to the Nickle Plate Trail.

ANNUAL
The only things worth doing around this city year after year are world-class free concerts, festivals, public art exhibits, craft beer tastings, ice skating and live music. Those things are terrible and only draw attention to the massive public parks and community assets Kokomo has, which is so, so annoying.

Wish there was something cool to do in Kokomo each year. Instead all we have is a multi-day festival with national recording artists taking the stage for free, tons of vendors, carnival games, fair food, rides, a sports festival and a parade.
Howard County 4-H Fair
One of the largest county fairs in the state of Indiana, with a thriving 4H program, vendors, rides, games and so much more. But who would want to make life-long memories there?

The Hobson
If you want to hold your event somewhere beautiful, you probably will have to go to Indy. All we have in Kokomo are places like the Hobson, with its high ceilings, stunning bar area and exceptional attention to detail. It’s so annoying having to close your mouth all the time because your jaw drops to the floor every time you’re in this opulent, absolutely beautiful space.

Posh Salon Day Spa and Boutique
This place is awesome but only if you’re into pampering yourself, shopping quality boutique items and experiencing specialty spa services.

The Jungle Mexican Cantina
Authentic Mexican food in an updated space? Why is that necessary!?

Dan’s Variety Bakery
The hot and fresh donuts they make here bring in a crowd that spills out of the door nightly. Must not be too impressive.

Only go here if you like iconic Kokomo locations owned by hardworking, great people. They serve up delicious ice cream in the most generous serving sizes but who really likes getting all of the bang for your buck?
Black Wax Cafe
This place is WEIRD! From the carefully curated eclectic decor to the vinyl record-themed drinks that photograph just as beautifully as they taste. Super weird. Avoid for sure!
Ugh. The only thing we hate more than boring cities is long lists. Those are the worst.
Did we miss anything, Kokomo? Let us know in the comments below.
