Kokomo Garage Sale Flip
Hey Kokomo! Here’s another Kokomo Garage Sale flip that might just be my personal favorite. I am so excited to share our farmhouse table flip with you. I think you will love it just as much as I do!
It’s everyone’s dream when they get a first home to go buy all new stuff to fill it up. I remember seeing my empty house and just envisioning all of the beautiful home decor, new furniture, and pretty things that I could fill it up with. This was our dream too..until we went shopping for a new kitchen table. There was no way we were going to spend $1000 on a table after we had just purchased a home..I am a little crafty so I found a better way to do that on the cheap.
I immediately started browsing through Marketplace, Craigslist, and Facebook.. I finally settled on a wooden pub style table I had found on the Kokomo Garage Sale page. The oak table was very dated and the color was hideous, however, it had good bones and it was solid. I knew this table could look how I had envisioned it in my head, so I paid the $100 and brought it home.
I decided to use white chalk paint on the bottom of this table and topped it off with some clear matte finish. FYI-If you have never used chalk paint you need to start doing some Pinterest research now and I promise you will thank me later. Chalk paint has that beautiful milky-matte color yet still looks distressed, but the best part of all is that NO sanding is required. I only had to sand the top of the table and I decided to use a dark brown stain with a coat of polyurethane to top it off.
I am beyond happy with how this table turned out and it saved us an arm and leg. If I can do this you can too. The biggest advice I can give is to have fun with it! It really shouldn’t be stressful at all! The colors are your choice and there are tons of options. The table shouldn’t look perfect so if you mess it up it is totally fine! Paint over whatever spots you don’t like and sand it again to blend it in. If you think it's too light just go over those spots with another coat. I love that I was able to customize this table exactly how I wanted it. I have zero regrets in deciding to walk away from that pricey table I was originally dreaming for.
So what do you think, Kokomo?
