Kokomo - Inside Edition
Hey Kokomo! While some of our community is getting back to normal, many people are still taking precautions and staying home, when possible. By now, we’ve all be quarantined since mid-March and you may be running out of ideas of things to do to stay sane have fun at home with your family and friends. We’ve got you covered with some new ideas:
1. Play Cards
Is there anything more Hoosier than a game of Euchre? A deck of cards provides endless opportunities for hours of fun with your family. Even if Crazy 8’s is more your speed, you can still live your best Indiana life. Play a card game, get some take out tenderloins and marshmallow cokes and you’re all set!
2. Write a Handwritten Note
Remember the simple joy of getting mail? We know this may sound strange coming from an all-digital company, but taking the time to write a note and drop it in the mail is a timeless form of correspondence that shows your friend or family member that you care.
3. Ask Questions
Our team has been doing this in our daily meetings. Simple ‘would you rather’ questions can really help you get to know a person, even family members! They can be serious or fun questions that help you learn different aspects of one another that you may not have explored before. Make it local: “Cone Palace or Scoops?” “Pastariffic or Martino’s?” “Gabe’s or Nonni’s” You get the idea!
4. Kokomo Scavenger Hunt
Think up your favorite Kokomo destinations and take your family on a scavenger hunt of our city! Create clues that you write out and distribute that will lead your excursion from place to place as they figure out where you’re going next. (Bonus points if your clues rhyme!) Each clue should lead to the next, with the final clue leading to a special destination where you reward the ‘hunters’ with a treat!
5. Capture This Time in a Journal
Taking the time to capture your thoughts and feelings during this global pandemic will be incredible to look back on in years to come. You can journal about your daily life events, your feelings, your schedule, or your hopes and dreams. If you haven't been a journal writer in the past, now is a great time to start.
6. Make a New Recipe
Are we the only ones who feel like we’ve been making the same five meals on rotation this entire quarantine? A few minutes on Pinterest or a Facebook post away from finding a few new recipes that your family will enjoy. Make it local: choose a recipe that uses produce that’s in season! (Our friends at the Kokomo Farmer’s Market have got you covered.)
So what do you think Kokomo? How have you been enjoying the great indoors?
