Free Vision Screenings at the Very Early Childhood Education Center
10 a.m. to noon | Monday, Nov. 11 | 1608 Kirk Row, Kokomo, INIn its new location, the Very Early Childhood Education Center is hosting monthly events for families with children under 5. This month, the Greentown Lions Club, Lions Vision, and the Children’s Eye Foundation are offering free vision screenings for young attendees. Families can stop by between 10 a.m. and noon for play, learning, and a new book to take home, along with the chance to check in on their child’s eye health. All Kokomo locationsOur local Kokomo McDonald’s restaurants host their Family McFun Nights every Thursday. Different activities and supplies are provided for families to enjoy a meal together with some extra fun. Common activities include games, art, and special events for the holidays. Each location may offer a different activity alongside the family fun.

This is a workshop where little artists ages 3 and up are welcome to express themselves by decorating a beautiful piece of pottery at Fired Arts Studio with a parent or guardian. The workshop will begin with a story read aloud and then transitions to a fun-themed project related to the story. A reservation is required because seating is limited. The Carver Center is excited to offer the chance for local youth to learn and grow their Chess skills and strategy. All ages and skill levels are welcome, but please bring your own board if you have one. Chess club is another benefit of your Carver Community Center membership with discounted rates. Others we aren’t members are welcome to join in for just $10 per week or $15 per month. Parents are encouraged to stay and play too. They have open bowling from 5 to 10 p.m. on Mondays, where a group of five can bowl for an hour for $40 (including those fancy bowling shoes). Bowling is an easy and fun activity for the whole family, and you can grab some food at Roddy’s while you’re there.
