Hey Kokomo! With all of this time I’ve been spending at home lately (thank you Covid-19) I have found myself jumping into many projects around my home that I probably never would have done. Cabin fever leads to some creative ideas to say the least, and I’m very excited to share a quick & easy flip to update your decor. Keep reading to see how I saved a lot of money and turned this old eyesore of a lamp from drab to fab!

One of my first projects while in quarantine was finally taking the time to paint our master bedroom. When we moved in, the previous owner had just painted all of the walls a chocolate brown color. Needless to say, this did not go with anything I had and the dark color was not very inviting. I chose to paint my ugly brown walls with the Sherwin Williams color “Acadia Haze” which is a beautiful blend of green and gray. The room turned out exactly how I wanted but there was just one problem..now I, of course, wanted to update my decor because it just didn’t seem to flow with the new look.

The first eyesore I observed was the old lamp that I had purchased from someone on the Kokomo Garage Sale Facebook page. The damask pattern was just too much with the other patterns I had going like my striped comforter and paisley area rug. It was patterned galore in my bedroom, so I started off with my lamp and decided to get out the paint and go to town. After-all, this lamp was in perfect condition and the only downfall was the color and pattern. I’m not sure if you’ve priced a lamp lately but the average lamp that I had looked into seemed to be around $50! I took the lampshade off and painted the black vase with white chalk paint and then I  took my matte dark gray to the lampshade.

This little flip probably took me 10 minutes of work (not including dry time) and made such a huge difference in the way the room looked. It was so easy- literally if you can hold a paintbrush you can do this. Save yourself some cash when considering buying new and look for something that has a good foundation but may not be visually appealing/go with your decor. Take a look around your home at your own decor and let your wheels spin! Quarantine has led me to some creative ideas when it comes to decorating and with all of this free time, I have no excuse for not bringing these ideas to life. I was now able to use the money I had planned on spending on a new lamp and get an adorable throw blanket which was the cherry on top!
