Kokomo Kids Eat

Ocean Punch from PASTArrific
3001 S. Webster St., Kokomo, IN 46902
(765) 455-1312

PASTArrific is much more than pasta! We stopped in for an appetizer as a family this past week and decided to treat the kids with a specialty mocktail that’s currently available called Ocean Punch. When it arrived at our table, the server was greeted with an “Ooo!” as the kids were very impressed with the drink’s bright blue color and blue sugar coating the rim of the glass. They loved the taste of the drink and had a difficult time sharing, but it tasted like tropical blue raspberry. The part they looked forward to the most was the handful of gummy bears at the bottom of the glass. In addition to the Ocean Punch, another mocktail called The Grinch is available, both for $4.95 with no free refills. Enjoy one of these “fancy” drink options next time you visit PASTArrific! You can view their regular menu and order online in addition to dining in.

Go for a Walk on a local trail

https://www.cityofkokomo.org/departments/walkpaths_and_trails.php

It is officially SPRING! That means Indiana will soon allow us the chance for mild temperatures and more opportunities to play outside. Carve out some time to get outside for a walk or jog with your family. Kokomo is home to many scenic walks paths and trails. Our personal favorite is the Wildcat Creek Walk of Excellence, where we can go for a walk and stop to play at Foster Park. It’s recommended by the CDC that children ages 6-17 are active for at least 60 minutes a day and there are many benefits to physical activity, including reducing symptoms of anxiety or depression. Use a walk as a time to talk and connect with your family, or even play a game using your senses. You can find detailed information about our local walk paths and trails on the KPRD website.

Saving Endangered Species with Conservation Classroom
Virtual School Program from the Smithsonian’s National Zoo
https://nationalzoo.si.edu/education/school-programs/saving-endangered-species

Who doesn’t love learning about animals? We were exploring the children’s services on the KHCPL website and clicked on the Amazing Animals section to find a link to the Smithsonian National Zoological Park Website. They offer many free online resources and virtual experiences for kids interested in learning more about animals. The next program, about saving endangered species, will be held at 2 p.m. April 24. The Conservation Classroom Programs are free and recommended for kids in grades K-12. Additional programs are available for a younger audience like the upcoming Birthday Party at the Zoo in May where a special friend leads a lesson about how animals keep their bodies healthy. You can learn more about other virtual programs by visiting The National Zoo website, but this is just one example of the amazing online resources that KHCPL connects us with.
