Kokomo Kids Eat

The Junior Kids Menu from Black Wax Cafe
910 N. Washington St., Kokomo, IN 46901 OR
2108 E. Markland Ave., Kokomo, IN 46901

In addition to the flavorful drink options you can find at Black Wax Cafe, they now offer a kid’s menu for our smaller fancy drink enthusiasts. The menu offers multiple 12-ounce non-coffee drinks for kids. We tried the Chocolate Oreo Frappe and The Kermit from the new menu last week. The Chocolate Oreo Frappe is served with a chocolate drizzle and crushed Oreo “dirt” with whipped cream on top and I was barely allowed a parent-tax sip. The Kermit or “The Green Drink” is a green apple smoothie with kiwi boba. It was delicious, but my toddler described it as “cold,” even though it was the perfect amount of sweet and sour in green apple flavor. We hope to try other drinks on the menu in the future, but this new menu is worth grabbing a drink for your kids when you pick up your regular from Black Wax. You can view their full menu on their website and make an order for the whole family.

Kokomo Kids Play

Attend an IUK Home Basketball Game
Student Activities and Events Calendar
2300 S. Washington St., Kokomo, IN 46902

If you’ve never been to an Indiana University Kokomo home basketball game, now is your last chance until next season. The Cougars have a double header coming up on Saturday, Feb.17 with the women’s team playing at 1 p.m. and the men’s team playing at 3 p.m. Bring your family out and explore IU Kokomo by visiting the Student Activities and Event Center for the game. We’ve recently learned that on double header days you might get to see special performances during halftime of the men’s basketball game. Once basketball season is over, there will still be plenty of IUK sports ahead of us including golf, tennis, and track & field. You can learn more about what’s happening in IUK athletics by following The Kokomo Post Sports and tuning into our weekly podcast called The Cougar Cast.

BSA Sycamore Council- Scouting
518 N. Main St. Kokomo, IN 46901
(765) 452-8253

What was previously recognized as Boy Scouts of America is now known as Scouts BSA and is available for all youth (boys and girls) beginning in sixth grade or 11 years old. There is the additional opportunity for youth in grades K-5 to participate in Cub Scouts. You can join scouting at any time, but the program officially begins in the fall just after the beginning of the school year. Depending on the pack you’re involved in, meetings may be held biweekly or weekly. These meetings are not mandatory, however, scouting is most beneficial with dedicated participation. You’ll notice youth in scouts are having fun with their friends, but the fun is with a purpose as they grow through experiences and learn valuable life skills. There are some special events coming up in our area including: University of Scouting at IUK on March 2 and the Pinewood Derby on March 9. Youth can enroll with the help of a parent or guardian online at beascout.scouting.org.
