Love Bites: Valentine’s Inspired Cocktail & Mocktail
Love is in the air, and here at The Kokomo Post, we're spreading the love one sip and bite at a time with our "Love Bites" series. In our final episode, we had the pleasure of joining forces with Grace Burton, one of the owners of the Booze Buggy, as she guided our host, Bree, through the art of crafting festive Valentine's Day-inspired cocktails and mocktails.
As the video begins, Grace unveils the first creation—a traditional gin fizz with. The first step of creating the drink is quite the surprise to Bree with the addition of egg. Grace explains by adding egg whites to the shaker this will create a frothy texture that adds a touch of elegance to the drink. With one ounce of fresh lemon juice, one ounce of agave, and two ounces of Empress Gin—the star of the show—the concoction is ready for a shake. For the first shake, no ice is added. This is called a "dry shake" which ensures a silky smooth texture before adding ice for a final mix. As the drink is poured, its color magically transforms, thanks to the unique blends of Empress Gin. Topped off with soda water and a lemon twist, this gin fizz is the perfect companion for a romantic evening with your partner.
Grace mentions that she was inspired by the botanical-infused Empress Gin and its delicate floral scent, which creates an elegant and sophistication drink—an ode to Valentine’s Day.
But the festivities don't stop there. Grace and Bree then turn their attention to crafting a delightful mocktail—a virgin punch that's perfect for those opting out of alcohol or for treating your little ones to something special on Valentine's Day.
The mocktail begins with a playful touch—a rim of agave syrup dipped in red sprinkles, adding a pop of color and flavor to the glass. The drink is simple and includes one scoop of strawberry ice cream, pink lemonade and Sprite, creating a fizzy, sweet treat. Garnished with heart-shaped candies, this mocktail is a celebration of love and sweetness, perfect for sharing with your Valentine.
