Friday, May 24 is National Road Trip Day. It’s officially summer and your bucket list is waiting to be checked off! Fill up your gas tank and check out our recommendations for our top destinations within two hours of Kokomo.

Converse, Indiana:

Over time I’ve seen this quaint midwest town grow and expand to something worth making the trip to check out for yourself.

Nestled in Miami County, Converse is a quaint and tight-knit community with a rich agricultural heritage. Surrounded by farmland, Converse offers a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.

At a locally-owned and Indiana-grown farm and product shop called Rachel’s Taste of Indiana, you find local meat and other goods. But you can also find a field of thousands of sunflowers in full bloom for just a few short weeks during late summer.

Converse has a variety of mom-and-pop shops that keep the town’s streets alive. Here are a few of my favorites:

Ft. Wayne, Indiana:

To the Northeast, you’ll find Ft. Wayne. What originated as a Fort from the American Revolution has developed into the second-largest city in the state full of culture, architecture, and fun. It’s home to the Ft. Wayne Tin Caps and the award-winning Ft. Wayne Children’s Zoo. Visitors will find many options for entertainment, recreation, and shopping. Ft. Wayne is a great road trip for foodies, families and festival goers.
