Hey Kokomo! The 103 new cafeteria tables at Western School Corporation represent a lot more than somewhere to sit down and eat with friends.

Since 2013, Purposeful Designs, a non-profit located in Indianapolis has employed individuals struggling with addiction and homelessness by teaching participants woodworking skills. These skills are brought to fruition by those who chose to purchase the custom furniture from their website.

When Assistant Superintendent Mark DuBois was given the task of ordering tables for their newly renovated school, Purposeful Design was brought up, and they got to work.

Not only are the participants building furniture, but they are also learning to rebuild their lives.
