The Kokomo Post Kids: Weekly Fun Guide - Sept. 23


It’s easy to say that Kokomo is so boring when you don’t know what’s going on in town. Even our kids love telling us how dull life can get when your days all look the same. We’re here with a new weekly fun calendar, hoping to encourage you and your family to try something new and experience more of what Kokomo has to offer. Here’s something you can do with your kids every day this week! Take a look and tell them we sent you!


  • Monday, Sept. 23, 2024

    • Visit Moore’s Pie Shop and Celebrate National Library Card Sign-up Month
      115 W. Elm St., Kokomo, IN 46901 | 10 a.m.- 1 p.m.

      The month of September is officially National Library Card Signup Month. You can sign up for a library card at Moore’s Pie Shop. When you show your library card you can get a small chicken pot pie or a small sweet pie for 10 dollars. Check out the full list of special events throughout the month here.     • Open Play at the Very Early Childhood Education Center

      Recommended Ages 0-5 Kindergarten Readiness

      The ultimate play-space for preschoolers, the Very Early Childhood Education Center has open play hours on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week. With each visit, children receive a free book and age appropriate learning activity. There are so many opportunities to play and learn at this free, open to the public resource center. Their play space includes toys, buildings that inspire imaginative play, and learning activities that encourage hands-on play and building construction/engineering.       Recommended ages 8-13

      The Discovery Center at KHCPL Main is available to offer kids aged 8-13 as a fun after-school activity and chance to make friends and explore STEM related activities. This week youth will have the opportunity to play with Hex bugs this week. The Discovery Center is open weekly and rotates through different activities. If you miss out this week be sure to check out the events tab on the KHCPL website and look for the orange and blue lightbulb.

    • Watch the Lady Comets vs. Lady Titan Volleyball

      Fun for the whole family

      Spice up your weeknight by supporting some of your favorite local schools. The Eastern Comets and Taylor Titans will go head to head on the volleyball court. You can visit the concession stand and watch the teams bump, set, and spike their way to a victory. Single game tickets are available for $6.     • Play Mini-Golf and more at City of Firsts Adventure Park | 5-9 p.m.

      Fun for the whole family

      As the summer ends, our chances to play at our favorite seasonal spots are limited. There’s fun and competition for the whole family whether you want to take a swing at the batting cages, score on your favorite mini-golf course, or race to the finish line on the go-karts. Before entering the park everyone must complete and sign a waiver. More information, including pricing and age or height requirements can be found on the City of Firsts Adventure Park Website.     • Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department Family Movie Night at Foster Park

      Fun for the whole family

      Watching the movie “Jumanji” with your family at the park might be the perfect way to begin the spooky season. Bring your chairs or lay out a blanket and share the fun for this FREE Public Event. Based on sunlight, it’s estimated that the movie will begin at 8 p.m.  “Adventurers beware: do not begin unless you intend to finish. The exciting consequences of the game / will vanish only when a player has reached Jumanji and called out its name.”

    • September Sundays with Wrangler & Friends | Noon - 4 p.m.

      Wrangler & Friends hosts special events throughout the year and they are going all out this month with September Sundays. For only $15 you and your child (all ages welcome) can experience life on the farm with Wrangler and his friends. Participants will get to ride a horse, feed some of the animals on the farm, help with grooming, and get pictures with Wrangler himself. This is your last chance to participate this month so don’t miss out. You can register for September Sundays and other camps/programs with Wrangler & Friends on their website.
