The Kokomo Post Kids: Weekly Fun Calendar


It’s easy to say that Kokomo is so boring when you don’t know what’s going on in town. Even our kids love telling us how dull life can get when your days all look the same. We’re here with a new weekly fun calendar, hoping to encourage you and your family to try something new and experience more of what Kokomo has to offer. Take a look and tell them we sent you!


  • Monday, Oct. 23, 2023

    • Open Play at the Very Early Childhood Education Center | 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.

      Recommended Ages 0-5 Kindergarten Readiness

      The ultimate play-space for preschoolers, the Very Early Childhood Education Center has open play hours on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week. With each visit, children receive a free book and age appropriate learning activity. There are so many opportunities to play and learn at this free, open to the public resource center. In addition to their main play space, they have a STEM/Sensory room that houses additional toys and learning activities that encourage hands-on play and building construction/engineering. Stop by on Monday and let the kids play.

    • Visit the Kirkendall Interpretive Nature Center at Jackson Morrow Park | 2-5 p.m.

      Fun for the Whole Family

      The Kirkendall Nature Center is currently operating on their winter schedule with open hours on Tuesdays and Thursday from 2-5 PM during the week. The nature center is home to many Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department (KPRD) activities including creature features throughout the summer months. If you’ve never visited the nature center, it is a great place to learn more about local wildlife species, plants and insects. In addition to the preserved and live animals, the nature center has games, books, and other hands-on activities for the whole family to enjoy.

  • Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023

    • Pumpkin Decorating at KHCPL Main, Meeting Rooms A & B | 4-6 p.m.

      Recommended for ages 3-13

      If carving pumpkins isn’t your thing, you can decorate one at this special event at KHCPL Main on Wednesday night. You’ll find the event downstairs in Meeting rooms A & B. Some arts and craft supplies will be provided while available. This is a great chance to do something creative as a family, but remember to dress for a mess and maybe bring something to safely take your decorated pumpkin home with you. We can’t wait to see what you create!

  • Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023

    • Eat at McDonald’s for McFamily Fun Night | 5-8 p.m.
      All Kokomo locations

      The week before Halloween brings a ton of fun activities happening around town. McDonald’s hosts their Family McFun nights every Thursday, but this Thursday, Oct. 26, is a special Halloween celebration where kids are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes for a special treat. Each location may offer a different activity alongside the Halloween fun, but you can’t forget the limited time Boo Buckets are available until supplies last.

  • Friday, Oct. 27, 2023

    • Visit Prices Pumpkin Patch | 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

      Fun for all ages

      Has your family done all of the pumpkin things yet? You can paint them, carve them, roast the seeds, and even eat/bake them. This versatile fruit creates so much joy during the harvest and spooky season that you need to at least visit a pumpkin patch once a year. Prices Pumpkin Patch is just off of Dixon Road and is a fun place to visit, take photos, and pick a pumpkin. They have crafts and fun seasonal decor available for sale as well as the pre-picked pumpkins of all shapes, sizes, and colors.

  • Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023

    • The Monster Mash Bash at Jackson Morrow Park | 3-6 p.m.

      Fun for all ages (Haunted Trail  6-8:30 p.m.)

      The event we’ve been anticipating all month will be held at Jackson Morrow Park this Saturday! The Monster Mash Bash will have a Trick-or-Treat Trail, Pumpkin decorating contest, Kids costume contest, and more fall activities. You may even have the chance to meet a real superhero and a princess! Bring the family out to Jackson Morrow Park for a fun afternoon or a night of fright if you plan on staying until dark.

  • Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023

    • Sunday-Funday Trunk or Treat at the Kokomo Humane Society | 1-4 p.m.

      Fun for all ages

      Celebrate Halloween with our furry friends at the Kokomo Humane Society during their Sunday Funday Trunk or Treat event! Wear your best costume and join in on the fun. There will be vendors, viewings of the canine playgroups, and even visits with adoptable felines at the Cat Cafe. You may even see a black cat while you’re there!
