It’s easy to say that Kokomo is so boring when you don’t know what’s going on in town. Even our kids love telling us how dull life can get when your days all look the same. We’re here with a new weekly fun calendar, hoping to encourage you and your family to try something new and experience more of what Kokomo has to offer.     • Open Play at the Very Early Childhood Education Center

      Recommended Ages 0-5 Kindergarten Readiness

      The ultimate play-space for preschoolers, the Very Early Childhood Education Center has open play hours on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week. With each visit, children receive a free book and age appropriate learning activity. There are so many opportunities to play and learn at this free, open to the public resource center. Their play space includes toys, buildings that inspire imaginative play, and learning activities that encourage hands-on play and building construction/engineering.       The Kokomo-Howard County Public Library does not disappoint in bringing back some of favorite events from past summers. Bubble Wonders is a fantastic bubble trick show for all ages. Your family will “ooohh” and “aaahhh” when they see bubbles like never before.

      When you visit the Howard County 4-H Fair with your family next week be sure to stop by the 4-H LEAD Center for Story Time on the Porch, Monday-Thursday at 2 p.m. or 6 p.m. All are welcome to Storytime on the Porch as it inspires literacy in new subjects like agriculture and encourages kids to read anywhere they’d like to. You can visit the 4-H LEAD Center anytime during office hours to learn more about the 4-H Program and purchase 4-H merchandise. You can learn a little more about 4-H and see the daily events happening at the fair in this article.

      Another Summer favorite, the Foam Happy Party is definitely a can’t miss event. Your kids will have so much fun in the bubbles of the foam cannon. To keep everyone safe, the event has been broken down into age group categories and time segments where each age group has their own time in the foam. Children up to age 4 will begin promptly at 10 am. Swimsuits or light clothing and water shoes are recommended, but don’t forget your towels

      Fun for the whole family

      Our local bike share is open for the season. Get ready to KokoGO! This is a great way to explore downtown Kokomo with family or friends. To check out a bike rental you must be 18 years old, provide a state-issued ID, and have a credit/debit card held on file in case fees. The bike share has expanded to offer adult, children’s, trikes, tagalong, and tandem bikes as well as helmets and bike locks.       From July 12-20, this spectacular annual event showcases the talent of Peru Amateur Circus students ages 7-21 years old.       Fun for the Whole Family

      The Kirkendall Nature Center is currently operating on their summer schedule with open hours Tuesday through Sunday. The nature center is home to many Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department (KPRD) activities including creature features throughout the summer months. If you’ve never visited the nature center, it is a great place to learn more about local wildlife species, plants and insects. In addition to the preserved and live animals, the nature center has games, books, and other hands-on activities for the whole family to enjoy.
