Unique Creations by Joe Now Open: A Destination for Handmade Goods and Fun Experiences

Kokomo’s Markland Mall at 1114 S. Seventeenth St., Kokomo is welcoming a new shop, Unique Creations by Joe, opening Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Owned by local artist Joe Petzold, the store offers a variety of his hand-poured candles, art, fossils, jewelry, custom resin art and more. Petzold said the shop was once a distant dream, and he is eager to share his passion with Kokomo.

"I don’t want my store to just be a store” said Petzold. “I want it to be a destination.”

Petzold said he hoped to draw more people to the mall and showcase the wonderful things happening in Kokomo.

In addition to his handmade items, Petzold has introduced the only mining quarry in the area, where visitors can purchase a bag of dirt and sift through it using an in-store water source to discover fossils, gems, and minerals, with prices starting at just $5 per bag.

What started as a therapeutic outlet for Petzold in his home, has grown into a full-fledged business with a storefront in a prime location, so make sure to support this local artist’s work and experience fossil mining at this new shop!

Stop by Unique Creations by Joe from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, or noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday and experience a unique blend of handcrafted items and fun activities, but in the meantime - check out these photos from our visit!
