The Howard County 4-H Fair returns to Greentown Monday, July 11 with six days packed full of fun! While you can expect the traditional midway games and the beloved fair food, there are a few new additions this year you and your family do not want to miss! Here are my top five things to do with your kids at the Howard County 4-H Fair:
1. The Pork Chop Revue
You may have seen this on fair schedule and wondered if it was a review of pork chops. Much to our delight, the pork chops will be doing the tricks. This is The Pork Chop Revue as seen on the popular television show “America’s Got Talent.” This is an unforgettable show filled with comedy and an entertaining cast of lovable performing pigs and hogs. You’ll see swine dancing and even singing during this show at the Pioneer Village.
Showtimes: 6 and 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6, 8 and 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
2. Butterfly Encounter
We have a feeling this is going to be a popular attraction for families at the 4-H Fair this year. A brand new butterfly encounter will be located at the north side of the commercial building and will be open daily for fair-goers to enjoy. You’re probably wondering what happens at the butterfly encounter, huh? The professionals will be on sight to supply you with a stick of nectar so the butterflies will flock to you so you can get an up-close-and-personal experience with the butterflies!
3. Fur-Tastic K9 Show
Animals doing tricks may be a bit of a trend at the Howard County 4-H Fair this year — and hey, we’re not upset about it! What’s more adorable than dogs and puppies? Dogs and puppies doing tricks!
You’ll have multiple chances to check out the Fur-Tastic K9 Show on the south side of Pioneer Village, where you can enjoy an adorable show from canine performers, stunt dogs, disc dogs and service dogs.
Showtimes: 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
4. Bob’s Bumpy Barrel Rides
Bob and his barrels have been bumping around the fairgrounds for many years, and he’ll return to the 4-H fair again this year to create more fun memories. Strap in and hold on for a fun and bumpy ride. This is the most thrilling way for your littles to see all of the sights at the fair!
Location: Pioneer Village
5. Granpa Cratchet
Everybody’s favorite old coot, Granpa Cratchet, will return to the Howard County 4-H Fair! When I think back on my favorite childhood memories from the fair, Grandpa Cratchet is always a part of those memories. He’s back with more shows filled with fun facts and family-friendly humor.
Showtimes: 5, 7 ad 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday
So, there you have it, my top five picks for family at the 2022 Howard County 4-H Fair. What are your favorite things to do at fair or what are your fondest memories?
