The edgy and cool local craft cocktail bar The Coterie is taking a turn for the wild west this month, as it transforms into a pop-up country bar for a limited time. “Bob’s Country Bunker” will transport visitors to a country and western-themed world, complete with live country and western music and a themed menu.
From the moment you step through the door, you'll be surrounded by floor-to-ceiling western decor that will make you feel like you’re in the Wild West.
The decor includes cowboy hats, neon signs, beer bottle chandeliers and lots of red, white, blue and paisley. The pop-up country bar will also feature live country and western music every week, with bands playing all your favorite country and western hits and originals.
“You can expect to see your favorite band playing behind the infamous chicken wire,” said owner Kyle Gibson.
And if that's not enough to get you in the country spirit, the themed menu will include themed cocktails and dive bar menu staples. The Coterie's pop-up country bar promises to be an unforgettable experience for country fans and bar-goers alike.
Gibson said the country themed pop-up bar wouldn’t have been possible without the creative design of Kristin Boor with Bohemian Events & Entertainment, who also helped transform The Coterie into a winter wonderland over the holidays.
“I told Kristin during our first pop up, Sleigh on Sycamore, that I’ve always wanted to do a country bar themed after the opening scene in The Blues Brothers,” said Gibson. “So we picked a month and made it happen.”
Boor called the transformation a “labor of love.” It took more than 35 hours throughout the week to pull it together, she said, adding that The Coterie staff, specifically mentioning Ellery Bennet and Amanda Duncan were essential helpers in the project.
“I pulled ideas from Nashville, old western saloons, and classic country dive bars to create this wild, homey, interactive experience for everyone to come and enjoy.”
So, if you want to experience The Coterie like never before, grab your boots and cowboy hats and head downtown for a rootin-tootin’ good time. The country bar theme runs through May 26.
