Summer Meals Available for Local Youth
School is out for the summer! While it feels like a vacation to most, it also creates a significant change in the daily schedule of a student who normally ate breakfast or lunch at school. We’re thankful there are multiple sites that are currently providing free or low-cost meals through the coming weeks for local youth.
Two of our local school corporations are participating in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) offering free healthy meals to area youth while school is not in session. The program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE). All children aged 18 or younger and individuals with disabilities over the age of 18 are enrolled in a K-12 school program are eligible to receive free SFSP meals.
