Impress Dad This Father's Day: Fun and Learning at Lowe's Build and Grow Workshop

Father’s Day is just around the corner, and here at The Kokomo Post, we’re thrilled to present a brand-new video series that highlights local businesses offering fantastic experiences for dads and kids! Whether you’re seeking a fun activity to enjoy with your dad or aiming to impress him with your grilling and drink-making skills, we’ve got everything you need to create unforgettable memories this Father’s Day.

In the second episode of our series, Drew heads over to Lowe’s with his trusty sidekick, Kokomo Post Kid and son, Jude, for an afternoon of bonding. At Lowe’s, they met up with both the head manager and assistant manager to get the rundown on Lowe’s DIY Workshop called Build and Grow.

Lowe’s offers these Build and Grow workshops on the first Saturday of every month, where families and kids to come in to build their very own masterpieces — from birdhouses to toolboxes and toys, there’s a new project to tackle each month. When you register for one of these workshops, you’ll be equipped with a Lowe’s apron, tools, and a kit. Once you complete the project, you'll even receive an iron-on patch to add to your Lowe’s apron. The more workshops you attend, the quicker you’ll fill up that apron with patches!

In the video, Drew and Jude enjoyed a one-on-one experience with Tim and Cody from Lowe’s, who explained how these workshops operate. However, during your class, you’ll likely be joined by other families, making it a fun and social event. Did we mention that these workshops are FREE?

In this episode, Jude and Drew worked together to build a wooden toy lawn mower from scratch! This was Jude’s first time experiencing a nail-to-wood project, and you could tell he was intrigued by the process. He absorbed tips and pointers from the Lowe’s instructors and his dad. We love that we got to include this experience in our Father's Day series because it’s the perfect opportunity for dads and kids to bond while creating something together. Dads get to share their knowledge with their kids, and everyone learns something in the process.

If you’re looking for a great activity to do with your little ones this Father’s Day, we highly recommend the Build and Grow Workshop at Lowe's! You can watch our experience by clicking here. And, if you’re interested in future workshops, we've got them all listed on thekokomopost.com/calendar.

Happy Father’s Day from all of us at The Kokomo Post!
