Shamrock Shake Shake-Up: The Kokomo Post's Take on McDonald's Minty Concoction

Welcome back, foodies and trend-seekers! In our latest episode of The Kokomo Post Mini Tries, Bree and Erin embarked on a mission to sample the latest and greatest from the Kokomo food scene. This time, their sights were set on the return of McDonald’s iconic Shamrock Shake and the debut of the Shamrock McFlurry, just in time for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day festivities.

Coming out of the gate, the duo mentioned that when approaching the golden arches, they couldn't help but chuckle at the classic McDonald's quip: “Let me check if the ice cream machine is working.” Ah, the perennial ice cream machine saga – a tale as old as time in the fast-food universe. But lo and behold, luck was on their side, as the machine was kind of working.

First up, the Shamrock Shake. The return of this vanilla and mint concoction usually gets lots of attention, however, the initial sips left the duo underwhelmed. Bree’s expression did the talking before she said, “This is toothpaste.” Erin agreed, labeling the flavor as “very fake mint.” Erin remained optimistic, suggesting a second chance might be necessary considering the employee did mention that all of the shamrock flavor migrated to the bottom of the cup.

Onward, it was time to sample the Shamrock McFlurry. Redemption! Bree’s face lit up as she declared, “That, I do enjoy! Way more!” The creamy texture blended with mint and Oreos, earned accolades from both Bree and Erin.
