Our Top 5 Moments with the Kokomo Bobkats this 2024 Season

Hey everyone, Bree here. It's hard to believe, but the Kokomo Bobkats season is coming to an end. Another season of high-energy basketball, entertainment and community togetherness has filled Memorial Gym once again. As your Kokomo Bobkats emcee, I thought it would be fun to look back at some of our favorite moments with the Bobkats at The Kokomo Post.

If you're a longtime follower of The Kokomo Post, you're probably no stranger to our fun videos with the Bobkats over the past four seasons. This year, we caught up with the team once again to create some more entertaining content with the players, giving you some insight into the personalities of the Bobkats. Here are our top 5 moments with your Kokomo Bobkats this year:

1. ‘Bean Boozled’

Would it be a season without us putting the Bobkats through a little bit of suffering? In the Bean Boozled video, we caught up with three new Bobkats: Trae Barber, Joe Burton, and Orlando Little. We put the Bobkats’ basketball knowledge to the test to see how accurately they could tell us the history of basketball, one person at a time and one line at a time. But the real kicker? Anytime the guys mentioned anything that wasn’t historically accurate or if they took too long, we called a “bean break,” where the guys had to taste a jelly bean color of my choice. The other kicker? The piles of colored jellybeans included delicious flavors like cherry and strawberry and not-so-delicious flavors like “old bandage” and “dirty dishwater.” We also asked the guys to conceal which bean they got by not reacting to the taste tests. It was hilarious! Click here to watch it all go down.

2. ‘Know Your Bro’

In this video, we invited some familiar faces to the studio for a game of “Know Your Bro” — Fudge and Larry. These two players have been around since the very beginning, so we decided to put them to the test to see just how tight the bros are. Both Fudge and Larry took turns answering my questions about one another while one wore headphones with loud music to ensure that they couldn’t hear our questions and their teammate's answers. After the line of questions, it was time to take off the headphones and see how they think their teammates answered these questions about them. As always, these two never fail to entertain, and spoiler alert: it turns out after four seasons together, the guys did know each other pretty well! Click here to watch the full video.

3. ‘Just Dance’

If you’re a Kokomo Bobkats fan, then you know that the guys aren’t only known for their skills on the court; they are also pretty famous for their dance moves. You can always catch the guys dancing on the sidelines at the games, during events, or pretty much anywhere. So, we decided to put two of the new guys to the test to see what kind of moves they had. Joe Burton and Trae Barber joined us in the studio for a dance-off! Off-screen, I had cue cards labeled with different dance moves to see just how many moves the guys knew. So, did they pass the test? You’ll have to check out the video to find out.

4. ‘Fake Yoga’

Lots of excitement surrounded a specific Bobkats newcomer this year: Brandon Wood. A Kokomo native who grew a large following as a former Kokomo Wildkat who moved on to play professionally in the G League, overseas, and beyond. With the announcement of Brandon joining the Bobkats for the fourth season, we knew we wanted to learn more about him. Turns out, he’s not only a great basketball player but also a yoga enthusiast and instructor. We stealthily planned a video with Brandon where some of the teammates and Bobkats staff joined him for a yoga class instructed by him, but we asked him to teach them moves that were just nonsense to see how long it would take them to catch on. What else did we learn about Brandon? That he’s also a great actor because he had them fooled for longer than we expected. You can check it out for yourself by clicking here.

5. ‘Think Fast”’

Last but certainly not least, we caught up with another Bobkats OG, Johnny Griffin Jr., and Head Coach Chandler Levingston Simon. While we always enjoy welcoming these guys back to our studio, we were eager to catch up with Chandler this season as he threw in the towel as a Bobkats player to take over his dad’s role as head coach. That’s right. We traded a Levingston for a Levingston. Pretty iconic. We hilariously put Johnny and Chandler to the test of answering some ridiculous rapid-fire questions in a game of Think Fast. These two guys are known for their chill and laid-back energy, and the video did not disappoint! Click here to watch the full video.
