After noticing a gap in the availability and obtainability of in-person tutors, the Kokomo Howard County Public Library saw an easy solution.

“We had so many parents ask us about tutoring services, between the homeschool community and local parents, the answer was always no,” said Ellen Clark, a children’s outreach librarian at the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library.

Brainfuse provides help in all core academic subjects, including math, science, social studies, writing, English and language arts in grades kindergarten through 12 but continues tutoring services in the Adult Learning Center for all levels of education, she said.

Live tutors are available every day from 2 to 11 p.m. EDT and all materials including High School Equivalency preparation, U.S. Citizenship practice, career resources and more are available anytime inside or outside the library using your library card and pin. “I think people may have that idea since its advertised in the children’s section that it’s not something they can use, but it’s for everyone,” said Clark.

The service is partly funded by the Friends of the Library, a nonprofit organization that supports library programming.
