Mantis Makeover
Hold onto your antennaes, Kokomo — we’ve got some bug news.
In a shocking twist no one saw coming, the iconic Koko-Mantis in downtown Kokomo has undergone an unexpected transformation that has the locals talking.
The legendary insect sculpture, known for watching over downtown with its stoic metal stare is now sporting a brand-new look. And not just any look. The Koko-Mantis is currently dressed as — wait for it — the Easter Bunny.
Yes, you read that right. Our beloved metal Mantis, known for being a downtown staple, local landmark, and unofficial mascot of Kokomo, has hopped straight into spring fashion. Complete with oversized bunny ears, a bunny nose and holding a giant carrot.
The Kokomo Downtown District dropped a bombshell photo on their Facebook page, revealing the newly made over mantis in all its bunny glory. The post gave a big shoutout to Community First Investment Group for sponsoring the makeover — and for bringing a little extra joy (and maybe a few double takes) to downtown Kokomo.
Local residents and visitors alike are loving the new look. And while the Easter-themed look is only temporary, we can’t help but wonder — is this just the beginning of a full-blown Koko-Mantis fashion era? Could we be looking at a patriotic mantis for the Fourth of July? A spooky mantis in October? A tinsel-covered mantis come December? Only time will tell.
For now, hop downtown and catch a glimpse of this unexpected Easter visitor before it transforms back into its usual buggy self. And don’t forget to give a silent thank-you to the folks who made this glorious moment happen.
Long live the Koko-Mantis — and may its makeover game stay strong.
