Kokomo Summer KidVentures: KHCPL Russiaville
Summer vacation is here, and it won’t last long. We want you to explore Kokomo and lead you on some fun and simple local adventures with your family each week. For our next weekly KidVenture, we played at the Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom at the Russiaville Branch of the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library!
The Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom is located at the Russiaville Branch of the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library at 315 Mesa Drive, Russiaville.
The outdoor classroom is an outdoor play space where the library regularly hosts programs and events throughout the year. The outdoor classroom is home to events like family movie nights, the kids straw maze, art camp, go wild outside, and much more.
It happened to be pirate day for the Go Wild Outside program we attended. The classroom is designed for children ages 2-7, but presents the opportunity for all children to learn by doing while using all of their senses in an outdoor setting.
During programs, the library staff go all out with many hands-on activities, crafts, and more in the special areas of the outdoor classroom. Kids love the messy area, the music area, construction area, and big play items like the rock wall, big hill, and underground tunnel.
Groups can schedule a visit for a free tour of the classroom and an accompanying learning activities. The outdoor classroom is open even when the library isn’t; visitors are welcome to check out a daily-use backpack or activity tote that can be used in the outdoor classroom during your visit. You can learn more about the Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom on the KHCPL website.
We hope you’ll visit KHCPL Russiaville this summer. If you’ve been there before, what’s your favorite part to play in? Join us next week for another Summer KidVenture.
