Kokomo Prepares for the 2024 Christmas Parade

The City of Kokomo is set to light up the night as it gears up for the annual Christmas Parade at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024. The festive event will kick off a parade route starting at the intersection of Walnut and Market Streets and concluding at Main and Sycamore Streets.

Organizers say this year’s parade promises a vibrant display of community spirit, featuring local marching bands, dazzling lighted floats from service organizations, local businesses and beloved community personalities.

Kokomo Mayor Tyler Moore said the event is the embodiment of Christmas in Kokomo.

“I’m looking forward to a magical evening in downtown Kokomo with an added touch of Christmas cheer,” said Moore. “Each float or organization in the parade will be donating an item for the We Care telethon,” which happens that same weekend.

The highlight of the evening will undoubtedly be the appearance of Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will bring joy and holiday cheer to all attendees.

A variety of activities will be available before the parade, beginning at 4 p.m. Families can enjoy vendors and local businesses offering festive treats, pet miniature farm animals and kids can participate in bingo with exciting prizes, write letters to Santa and enjoy free train rides.

As the parade winds its way through downtown, caroling is set to fill downtown with performances on the main stage across from the east side of the Courthouse Square as well as at the Rain Garden stage in front of Walt Moss Barber Shop.

Following the parade, Santa will be available for visits and photos with children, making it a perfect opportunity for families to create lasting holiday memories.
