The Kokomo Post Picks of the Week - May 28th

Hey, Kokomo! Welcome to our Kokomo Post Picks of the week where our staffers and interns pick the things they’re enjoying from all around our favorite city! In no particular order:

Spa Services from Summit Salon Academy

We have officially stumbled upon one of Kokomo’s best-kept secrets. Summit Salon Academy has a menu of salon and spa services for less than half the price you’d pay at a traditional establishment. And, admittedly, there is a trade-off. All of the services you’ll receive are performed by students, so they’re still learning at the academy, but if you’re okay with giving up a little bit of the spa-style ambiance, the recent facial I had was fabulous!

You may catch me back there with a few of my colleagues for a summer pedicure, a Friday blow-out or another refreshing facial!

Lengua Tacos from 3 Amigos

Check out this week’s episode of The Kokomo Post Mini Tries, because Drew and I recently tried a local food item that terrified half our staff. Tongue tacos.

That’s right, lengua tacos are made from beef tongue. It’s slow-cooked so the meat is tender and delicious. We ordered ours with cilantro and white onion, which is the best way to order any of the 3 Amigos tacos.

Brownie Sundae from Scoops

It’s not official, but it feels like summer is here. A brownie sundae is up there with the banana split as a quintessential sweet treat. Our pick this week is the brownie sundae from our friends at Scoops.

The base of this dish is brownie bites (of course) topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, nuts, and a maraschino cherry on top. The best way to end a summer night, especially after a UCT baseball game.

What do you think Kokomo? We want to hear your picks of the week!
