Kokomo Chefs’ Thanksgiving Recipes: The Green Beans - Guido Gabriel
Hey Kokomo! Welcome back to another blog from our new series giving our local Kokomo Chefs best Thanksgiving recipes! In our first blog we started it off big with an awesome turkey recipe from local chef Blake Kinder. You can check that out here.
Today we’re going into the world of decadence. Today’s recipe is from Guido Gabriel, owner of Gabe’s Pizza in Kokomo! If you’re expecting some sort of flat bread or calzone, you’re reading the wrong blog. Guido has supplied us with his Fried Green Beans and Bacon recipe! This is one of those recipes that will probably be gone quickly from the table. Here’s how you make it:
Green Beans
Ingredients:
Green beans (You can use either fresh or canned green beans or French cut, Chef Guido uses canned French cut.)Bacon
Yellow or white onion (your preference)
Instructions:
Fry the bacon (either slices or cut up and then fry)— keep all the greaseDice and sauté onion in the bacon grease
Pour beans in the same skillet and fry on a high temperature
Keep stirring beans as they brown.
We prefer ours on the crispy side— so we fry till most of the beans are dark brown and almost burnt. FYI— the beans reduce about half in size when cooked. So one 16 ounce can will be end up about half the starting quantity.
Enjoy!
A special Thank You to each of our Kokomo chefs for sharing their recipes!
