It may sound crazy, but basketball season is coming soon. There is a lot of hype around Kokomo High School’s boys’ basketball team, but there will also be a lot of great basketball played on the Indiana University Kokomo campus this season.
The IUK women’s team is coming off of a 10-15 overall and 7-11 conference record in 2021. Coach John Kenger is starting his second season as head coach in 2022. In preparation for this year’s season, the River State Conference’s preseason poll was released on Tuesday morning.
According to a press release from IUK, the Cougars are projected to place seventh in the conference at the end of the year. The team received 70 total votes from the conference’s coaches poll putting them 72 votes shy of first place, according to the release. The Cougars were also tied in that seventh-place projection with IU Southeast.
The Cougars will start the season on the road with a game against the University of Michigan-Dearborn. The team won’t play its first home game until the match up against IU East on Nov. 17.
