Best Hidden Gems in Kokomo - Restaurant Edition - UPDATED 2024

Hey Kokomo! If you’ve been following The Kokomo Post for any amount of time, you might have noticed how much we love to eat. We love discovering Kokomo’s hidden gems and supporting local restaurants in our area, and we want to share the love with you. Check out this list for some of Kokomo’s best kept secrets!

Pho Nguyen

Kokomo’s first and only Vietnamese restaurant. Pho Nguyen is a place our office frequents often. Since Vietnamese cooking is done with minimal use of oil and dairy and relies more on the light, fresh flavors of herbs and vegetables, it’s considered one of the healthiest cuisines in the world. Our favorite items from Pho Nguyen are the fresh spring rolls and the seafood chow mein!

Check them out, you won’t be disappointed! They are located at 1245 S Seventeenth Street in Kokomo!

Tokyo Cuisine

Ramen, hibachi, sushi and more await at Tokyo Cuisine! Fresh ingredients, flavorful combinations and amazing owners and employees. This was one of my first episodes of Heidi’s Hidden Gems and once you stop in and give it a taste, I think you’ll understand why.

Tokyo Cuisine is located at 108 N. Dixon Rd., Kokomo.

Yolanda’s Place

Jerk and Soul food at its finest. Yolanda’s doesn’t play when it comes to fried chicken, wings and jerk tacos.

Stop by 1195 E Markland Ave. to taste it for yourself!

El Borrego Carnicería y Taqueria

What appears from the outside as a modest Mexican grocery store, actually turns out to be an amazing restaurant and meat market located conveniently in downtown Kokomo. You can order your favorite dishes from the restaurant, or buy the ingredients to make them at home! It’s the best of both worlds! El Borrego is located at 314 S. Union St., Kokomo.

Jay's Authentic Thai Cuisine

Hidden away in Terrace Plaza on South Lafountain Street in Kokomo, Jay’s Thai is what’s missing from your life! With affordable prices and delicious and fresh food, Jay’s is a staple here at The Kokomo Post! Whether mild or spicy is your vibe, Jay’s is made to order however you like it!
