Heidi’s Hidden Gems - Secret Sunflower Field

Have you ever seen three-quarters of a MILLION sunflowers in bloom? On this week’s episode of Heidi’s Hidden Gems, we took a short trip outside of Kokomo to a hidden gem that’s only available for a couple of weeks!

In Converse, about 30 minutes southwest of Kokomo, there is a hidden sunflower field that can only be found with a map from Rachel’s Taste of Indiana at 102 S. Jefferson St., Converse.

Rachel’s features a huge variety of products, gifts, canned goods, local honey, oils, meat and more that are entirely from the state of Indiana.

After her family farm began growing sunflowers to be dried and cold pressed into oil for cooking and other various products, she wanted to create a storefront for other local farmers and makers to feature their products as well.

When you stop by Rachel’s, you’re able to shop around and grab a map that will give you directions to a beautiful field of their sunflowers in full bloom prior to harvest.

There’s just a short window of time to go see these beauties — depending on the weather, it’s a short one to two-week period. So stop by Rachel’s, learn about the products made from the oil, support local businesses and enjoy this week’s Heidi’s Hidden Gem before it’s too late!
