Kokomo Kids Eat:

Blue Moon Custard from Kokomo Frozen Custard

3107 S Webster St., Kokomo, IN 47902
(765) 450-3894

Kokomo Frozen Custard has been serving up sweet treats since 1985. Our boys wanted to try the flavor of the day, Blue Moon. Coincidentally, it’s the flavor of the day on the night of a full moon. I had to test it to be sure it was yummy enough for them and the flavor was subtle with a fun marshmallow taste. My oldest said “It tastes like bouncing on the moon,” and I have to agree. The flavors change often and you can find out what the flavor of the day is on their Facebook page. We ordered at the window this time, but I definitely plan on using the drive-through for a quick snack. Don’t let your summer melt away without getting some Kokomo Frozen Custard soon!

Kokomo Kids Play:

The Splash Pad at Kokomo Beach

802 W. Park Ave., Kokomo, IN 46901

(765)456-7540

You may think of the lazy river or the water slides as the highlight of Kokomo Beach, but for some of the smaller Kokomo kids, the splash pad is where its at. Our boys can spend hours in the splash pad at Kokomo Beach! The clownfish shooting water from their mouths are the favorite of our oldest son and our youngest just loves being soaking wet. I love that the splash pad is themed around the local story of Old Ben the steer, and when you visit on a chilly day, the splash pad seems to be the warmest place in the park. Our family has been lucky enough to visit Kokomo Beach a couple times this summer, but now that August is here Kokomo Beach will only be open on the weekends until Aug. 13. Don’t miss out on this great place to play!

Kokomo Kids Learn:

Miniature Golf at City of Firsts Adventure Park

409 Arrow St., Kokomo, IN 46901

(765)450-8155

Whether you are playing for fun or playing to win, miniature golf is a great family friendly activity. We took our oldest son to play mini-golf for the first time at City of Firsts when he was 3, and even though he got tired and didn’t want to finish all 18 holes, he had a ton of fun! We didn’t keep score for the little guy (just mom vs. dad), but instead focused on him learning that he needed to take turns and wait patiently when it was someone else’s turn golfing. The course isn’t extremely difficult, but there may have been one or two holes where I had to take a step back and re-evaluate my approach after the ball rolled back me. You can have a lot of fun for the cost of $5 per golfer. However, like our other picks this week, City of Firsts is another special seasonal place we get to enjoy in the warmer months so be sure to plan a visit before the first signs of fall arrive.
