The Bee Hive

Did you know? The honey bee contributes to 40% of the United States food supply! When honey bees began building their hives in the wall of the recreation building in Mehlig Park, Jeff Cardwell knew something had to be done. Instead of having them exterminated, The Parks and Recreation Department Supervisor decided to create a display to preserve the hive. The public is now able to visit and look through the plexiglass to see the working hive! When the sign says “open”, look behind the white doors and check out those busy bees!

Kirkendall Nature Center

Nestled away at Jackson Morrow Park, the Kirkendall Nature Center has a large diorama of preserved animals that are native to Indiana. There are display cases and aquariums that house several species that are also native to Indiana. Outside of the building, you can enjoy a walk through nature and maybe you’ll spot some critters there too!

The Seiberling Mansion

The Seiberling Mansion is a result of the gas boom around Kokomo in the 1890s. The house includes 8 rooms on the first floor, seven on the second floor and a grand ballroom on the third floor. Visit and take a tour of the Seiberling Mansion to see the beauty for yourself!
