It’s truly dinner and a show when you choose the Teppanyaki Experience at Taku Japanese Steakhouse with your family. Each chef presents a different experience, but the initial lighting of the grill leaves a “WOW” on all of our guests’ faces. Our kids laugh and squeal with joy throughout the cooking process on the flat top. We don’t visit often, but it’s certainly a special occasion our boys look forward to when we eat at Taku. The children’s menu includes chicken, shrimp, New York strip steak and filet mignon as the entree and is served with a house salad, soup, and vegetables with the choice of noodles or fried rice. The large portions usually allow us enough for leftovers and value for the experience. The next few days prove what a fun experience it is when our kids want to play chef and borrow your spatulas for fancy tricks.

It’s almost December, and it’s pretty cold outside, so now is a great time to play indoors. You know the best place to play indoors in Kokomo is Gravity Trampoline Park! Our kids refer to Gravity as “the jumpy place” and thrive during toddler time, but honestly, as a parent I love Gravity as much as my kids do. Jumping on the trampolines and the additional activities in the jump area are great big action play activities to help my little ones burn some serious energy. After an hour of jump time they are pretty satisfied with their visit. In addition to the jump area, there is an arcade and food area in case you wanna play all day. If you haven’t visited Gravity before, be sure to check out their hours and special pricing. There are a few designated times like “toddler time” or “salvation” that are discounted and allow for a change in pace or mood to suit your family’s liking.

Reading with Pet Partners at KHCPL Main

Reading can be even more fun when you have a partner! Especially when your partner is a really good listener. Each month at different KHCPL locations the opportunity to read with a pet partner is available for youth of all ages wanting to practice their reading skills. The pet partners are trained therapy animals and they love to read and listen to your stories. This can be a great experience for beginner readers to practice reading to build confidence in their phonics skills and reading speed. It would even be an opportunity for more established readers to practice a speech or presentation if they tend to get anxious or nervous. You can visit the Children’s Department at KHCPL Main from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 2 to read a pet partner or 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 16.
