Kokomo Post Kids: Eat, Play, Learn - Nov. 28
Hey Kokomo! It’s that time of the week again. Our staff with kids are happy to share a few of the places their kids like to eat, play, and learn in and around Howard County. Check out this week’s picks for yourself!
Kokomo Kids Eat
Happy Thanksgiving!
I have fond memories of Thanksgiving dinner inspiring the foodie in me back in the 1990s. Many families have a special dish or recipe they cherish and eagerly anticipate each year. For the Harris family, it was mom’s scalloped corn.
Thanksgiving is a time for diverse traditions and meaningful moments. In our family, one of our favorite ways to start the holiday is by watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and running a 5K race together. Others may spend the day working in the kitchen, volunteering, or serving others in their community.
Whatever your traditions may be, we hope you have the chance to celebrate with loved ones, enjoy a delicious meal, and take time to reflect on all there is to be grateful for this season.
Kokomo Kids Play
The Game Room at Carver Community Center
1030 N. Purdum St., Kokomo, IN 46901 | (765) 457-9318 | kokomocarver@gmail.com
Open Weekly on Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m.
Brand new this week, the Carver Community Center hosted its first gaming club on Tuesday in its new game room, made possible with funding from the Duke Energy Foundation. Games such as Roblox, Fortnite and Minecraft engage youth in problem-solving, critical thinking, and the application of mathematical and scientific concepts through interactive environments.
In many ways, gaming is an educational source of play and helps develop skills required in STEM fields like engineering and technology. This is just one of the many benefits of a membership with the Carver Community Center.
The game room is open weekly to members on Tuesday nights and is supervised by an adult volunteer. For more information about the Carver Community Center and its gaming room, contact the center by phone or email.

Submit your letters to Santa with The Kokomo Post
www.thekokomopost.com/santa
No matter how old your kids are, there’s nothing more magical after Thanksgiving than writing a letter to Santa. Kids can practice their handwriting and spelling skills by drafting their letters on paper. Santa, like local teachers, loves it when kids use complete sentences and are descriptive in their writing.
Children should explain why they’ve earned their spot on the Nice List, ask questions, and share gift ideas. Parents can help their kids submit letters to Santa through our website. Starting tomorrow, The Kokomo Post will be accepting letters through Sunday, Dec. 15.
