Kokomo Kids Eat

Brownie Sundae from Kokomo Frozen Custard
3107 S. Webster St., Kokomo, IN 46902
(765) 450-3894

Want to try something new for dessert this weekend? Visit a local favorite and share a sundae with your kids. We had a craving for brownies. The brownie sundae is a warm gooey brownie topped with a scoop of vanilla frozen custard drizzled with chocolate syrup and your choice of the addition of whipped cream or nuts. This was a mother-son treat for us to share and it was the perfect portion. You can follow Kokomo Frozen Custard on Facebook to see what special flavors they will be offering each week. This weekend Frozen Custard will have wedding cake, strawberry and lemon in addition to vanilla, chocolate, and butter pecan — which they always have ready to serve.

Kokomo Kids Play

The Playground at Kokomo Municipal Stadium
400 S Union St., Kokomo, IN 46901

We had the opportunity to attend a Kokomo Jackrabbits game at Kokomo Municipal Stadium this past weekend for one of their promotional nights with fireworks. While my little guys can’t always make it through an entire game, they still had fun in all of the action of the stadium. We explored the playground just outside of right field in hopes that we could manage to hang out to watch the Star Wars Fireworks show. The playground has recycled rubber mulch as ground cover to keep things a little cleaner. The playground is covered with a safety net and has some areas for parents to sit nearby. There is a small baseball field and a playset friendly to kids of all ages. There were multiple opportunities to climb and slide and we will definitely be back to visit for another home game. You can purchase tickets online and the final home game is on Saturday, Aug. 10.

Kindergarten Readiness Kits
Kokomo-Howard County Public Library
Available to check out with your Library Card

Do you have a little one getting ready for Kindergarten? Being prepared for their first year of school isn’t just about their knowledge, there are many physical, social and emotional skills and practices that help make Kindergarten a better experience for students. KHCPL offers Kindergarten Readiness kits (like experience kits) in clear backpacks that can be checked out and borrowed for two weeks. We borrowed the kit that focused on learning to work through our feelings when we get upset. The kit included two stories about big feelings and laminated worksheets that inspired easy calming practices. We plan to pick on a new one each week as we count down the days before school starts here in Kokomo. Visit the KHCPL website and use the catalog to search for a Kindergarten Readiness kit to share with your kids getting ready for their first day of school.

What would your kids’ picks be? Leave us a comment below or on our social media pages so we can check them out!
