Red Velvet Drink from Big Ben Coffee Co.

As our local stores shift our focus to Valentine’s Day, we’ve had the color red on our minds and decided to try something new at Big Ben Coffee Co. last week. The Red Velvet drink was featured as a seasonal winter drink, but it is available year-round. You might even be able to snatch a piece of red velvet cake to match. It was delicious and described as a “Yummy, red hot chocolate,” by my sons. They loved trying a fancy drinks, while I loved seeing the little drops of red on their faces from taking drinks that were a little too big. There are many non-caffeinated drink options at Big Ben and other local coffee shops. You can include your kids in your next coffee run to add some extra fun.

Storytime and Pottery Painting at Fired Arts Studios

This is a NEW workshop being provided by Fired Arts Studios, our favorite local pottery painting studio in downtown Kokomo. Artists ages 3 and up are welcome to express themselves by decorating a beautiful piece of pottery at the studio with a parent or guardian. The workshop will begin with a story read aloud and then transition to a fun-themed project related to the story. A reservation is required because seating is limited. Depending on interest and participation this new workshop series will be offered twice a month in the coming months. The next workshop will be held on Friday, Jan. 26 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The group will be reading “The Color Monster” and painting a monster pottery piece. American Ninja Warrior Nights at Kokomo Flipsters

Kokomo Flipsters is offering something new for your ninja kids ages 4-12 on select Friday nights. The first three Friday nights of each month (provided it is not a holiday weekend) youth are welcome to register for the American Ninja Warrior Night camps for just $15 per ninja. There will be two classes offered starting at 4:30 or 5:30 p.m., each lasting 55 minutes total. Ninjas get to train on the special ninja course located inside the Flipsters gym and practice martial arts, tumbling and more. This is a great way to see if your child would be interested in gymnastics or a regular Ninja class offered at Kokomo Flipsters. The next American Ninja Warrior Nights will be held on Feb. 2, 9, and 16 and you can register using the iClasspro app. Once you create an account in the app you can search for classes and camps like the American Ninja Warrior Nights by searching “flipsters” (all lowercase).
