The Rug Rat Menu at The Foxes Trail
305 S. Main St., Kokomo, IN 46901 | (765) 450-7670
https://www.facebook.com/thefoxestrail/

If you’re looking to dine in (or carry out) downtown with your family, don’t dismiss The Foxes Trail for a great family dinner. The kids menu is for kids age 10 and younger and all of the meals include french fries and applesauce sides.

You can see a photo of the menu that includes a Mini Foxburger, mini cheeseburger, corn dog, chicken tenders, grilled cheese, macaroni & cheese, and mac & cheese bites. Our kids recently sampled the mac & cheese bites Lil’ Fox Platter after swimming lessons. They were sad when the fries were gone. My youngest remained indifferent to the mac & cheese bites so he offered them back to me. We will just have to try a new item when we visit next time. Be sure to grab a reservation on the weekends or opt to order carryout when supporting this delicious locally owned restaurant.

DSensory Kitchen at KHCPL South
1755 E. Center Road, Kokomo, IN 46902 | (765) 453-4150
https://www.khcpl.org/

We always get excited when we visit a KHCPL Branch and notice a NEW TOY! It’s funny knowing that when children see a toy in a new environment (even if they have the same toy at home) it’s a very big deal. My youngest son has recently been interested in the sensory toys available at home and at the library. Playing with Play-Doh, digging into a sensory bin, etc. these are all great activities for toddlers to encourage fine motor skill development. The new kitchen set at KHCPL South has been our newest favorite. Kitchen utensils and lots of wooden bowls included. I was served soup and breakfast made up of multicolored plastic straws and mini porcupine balls. It’s been a fun experience that your little ones will love. Plan a visit to KHCPL South to play, grab some books or check out an upcoming program.

Sun Safety Tips with Michelle Durm, physician assistant with Forefront Dermatology
2130 W. Sycamore St. #200, Kokomo, IN 46901 | (765) 457-4455

Spring is here and the sun has been shining so bright lately. Has your family been outside to enjoy the change of the seasons? Being outdoors is a wonderful and fun experience, but it's important to be knowledgeable about sun safety in order to protect your family. Michele Durm, a physician assistant with Forefront Dermatology here in Kokomo, shares with her patients that the more things you do to protect your skin, the more successful you’ll be. She recommends using an SPF 30+ daily and this should be reapplied every 2 hours or after sweating/swimming. If you’re questionable about what kind of sunscreen to purchase, Durm recommends looking for a broad spectrum sunscreen that blocks for UVA and UVB rays. As a general rule, it's best to avoid the peak hours of 10am-2 pm or when the sun is highest, but you can utilize the UV index as a way to help guide your outdoor plans or activities. Another option Durm mentioned were physical blockers. After applying sunscreen and making plans, you can wear hats, sunglasses, and UPF clothing to protect your skin without having to reapply or missing a spot. We were so thankful to learn from Michelle Durm and she welcomed families to consider contacting the office for information on skin cancer screenings, and other skin treatments for eczema, acne, or other needs.
