Words and Art Unite at Kokomo Art Association Exhibit

The exhibit invites visitors to explore the dynamic relationship between poetry and visual art. Local poets have drawn inspiration from paintings and photographs created by artists within the community. Their written pieces are displayed alongside the corresponding artwork, creating a dialogue between the two forms of expression.

The exhibit features a variety of styles and themes, reflecting the diverse talents of Kokomo's artistic community and contains 20 art pieces from Kokomo Art Association members and 32 poems from poets of the Poetry Society of Indiana.

“It’s interesting, because I didn’t give the titles of the art to the poets, so it was cool to see what they came up with,” said Cheryl Sullivan, president of the Kokomo Art Association.

John Hinton, President of the Poetry Society of Indiana, said he appreciated the importance of bringing multiple artistic mediums together into one.

“It shows a wholeness to the arts and that all types of art belong together,” he said.

The exhibit is open to the public throughout August at the Kokomo Art Association gallery in downtown Kokomo. Art enthusiasts, poetry lovers, and the general public are encouraged to visit and experience the unique blend of visual and literary art on display.
