The Kokomo Post Kids: Weekly Fun Guide Sept 2.


It’s easy to say that Kokomo is so boring when you don’t know what’s going on in town. Even our kids love telling us how dull life can get when your days all look the same. We’re here with a new weekly fun calendar, hoping to encourage you and your family to try something new and experience more of what Kokomo has to offer. Here’s something you can do with your kids every day this week! Take a look and tell them we sent you!


  • Monday, Sept. 2, 2024

    • Celebrate Labor Day!

      It’s the first day off of the school year and a real reason to rest and celebrate the workers in our community and the achievements of the American labor movement throughout history. Be aware that many businesses will be closed in observance of the holiday.

  • Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024

    • Robots at the Discovery Center at KHCPL Main | 5- 6:30 p.m.

      Recommended ages 8-13

      The Discovery Center at KHCPL Main is available to offer kids aged 8-13 as a fun after-school activity and chance to make friends and explore STEM related activities. This week youth will have the opportunity to work with robots. The Discovery Center is open weekly and rotates through different activities. If you miss out this week be sure to check out the events tab on the KHCPL website and look for the orange and blue lightbulb.

  • Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024

    • Visit the Kokomo Humane Society Cat Cafe | 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.
      729 E. Hoffer St., Kokomo, IN 46902 | (765) 452-6224

      Visiting the Cat Cafe is the puurrrfect idea of some weekday fun with your family. Anyone may walk-in to the Cat Cafe, but to enter the cat colony it costs $5 per person/per hour (free for kids under 10 years old-must be at least 3 years old to enter the cat colony). Everyone must review the cat colony rules and sign a waiver before entering. Your family will love the chance to play and cuddle with these 10-20 friendly felines.     • Kindermusik at KHCPL South |  10- 10:30 a.m.

      For children ages 18 months-3 years old

      KHCPL offers many activities for little ones to help with literacy and cognitive development. Kindermusik is offered at varying times and multiple of our KHCPL locations. If you’ve never attended before, it's a short and engaging experience where toddlers get to sing, dance, and play musical instruments.   • Friday, Sept. 6, 2024

    • Storytime and Pottery Painting at Fired Arts Studio | 11- 12:30 p.m.
      111 W. Sycamore St. Kokomo, IN 46901 | (765) 450-3088

      This is a workshop where little artists ages 3 and up are welcome to express themselves by decorating a beautiful piece of pottery at Fired Arts Studio with a parent or guardian. The workshop will begin with a story read aloud and then transitions to a fun themed project related to the story. A reservation is required because seating is limited. Depending on interest and participation this  new workshop series will be offered twice a month in the coming months. You can find more details about this workshop and more on their website.

  • Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024

    • Chess Club at the Carver Community Center | 4-6 p.m.
      1030 N. Purdum St., Kokomo, IN 46901 | (765) 457-9318

      The Carver Center is excited to offer the chance for local youth to learn and grow their Chess skills and strategy. All ages and skill levels are welcome, but please bring your own board if you have one. Chess club is another benefit of your Carver Community Center Membership with discounted rates. Others we aren’t members are welcome to join in for just $10 per week or $15 per month. Parents are encouraged to stay and play too. You can follow their Facebook Page for updates or give them a call for more information and to get registered.

      UPDATE: Chess Club will not meet this week and will meet instead on Saturday 9/14 and 9/21

  • Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024

    • The City of Kokomo’s Touch-a-Truck Event | 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
      Inventrek Campus at 700 E. Firmin St., Kokomo, IN 46901

      Bring the whole family out to the Inventrek Campus for a fun afternoon where you can get an up close and personal look at some specialty vehicles used around our community. Touch-a-truck is a great opportunity to learn more about our city’s services and local businesses. From 11 a.m. to noon the event will host a sensory hour where trucks will not have lights on or use their horns. Stop by and join in on the fun!
