We’re here with a new weekly fun calendar, hoping to encourage you and your family to try something new and experience more of what Kokomo has to offer. Fun for the whole familyEnd your week with some fun and call Heritage Lanes to check for open bowling availability. They have open bowling from 5 to 10 p.m. on Mondays, where a group of five can bowl for an hour for $40 (including those fancy bowling shoes). Bowling is an easy and fun activity for the whole family, and you can grab some food at Roddy’s while you’re there. The Very Early Childhood Education Center, the ultimate play space for preschoolers, offers open play hours on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week. With each visit, children receive a free book and age-appropriate learning activity. This free, public resource center provides many opportunities for play and learning. The play space includes toys, structures that inspire imaginative play, and hands-on learning activities that encourage building and engineering. Fun for the whole family
The Kirkendall Nature Center is currently operating on its winter schedule with open hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The nature center is home to many Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department (KPRD) programs and activities, including creature features throughout the year. If you’ve never visited, it’s a great place to learn more about local wildlife species, plants, and insects. In addition to preserved and live animals, the nature center has games, books, and other hands-on activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Bring the family to the Kokomo Family YMCA on Saturday, Oct. 26, for a spooky good time! The YMCA will host a Halloween Hustle 5K fun run and a Monster Mini Fun Run that you won't want to miss. Costumes are encouraged for participants of all ages, as there will be a costume contest. All ages are welcome, and you don’t have to be a runner to join in on the fun. The 5K course is ready for runners, walkers, strollers, and four-legged friends. After the race, there will be a post-run party with a candy crawl, vendors, food trucks, and music.
