Recommended for children ages 2-5Start your week off at the library with Monday Fun Day where children can develop literacy, social, and creative skills through storytime and more. Each session features engaging picture books, interactive reading, songs, and movement activities. Children will participate in crafts and hands-on activities that build kindergarten readiness while encouraging creativity. Parents and guardians are encouraged to join in, fostering a love for learning and creating meaningful memories. Social interaction with peers also helps children build important social skills. Recommended for children ages 0-5 for kindergarten readinessThe Very Early Childhood Education Center, the ultimate play space for preschoolers, offers open play hours on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week. With each visit, children receive a free book and age-appropriate learning activity. Today from 10 a.m. to noon, there will be a fall party with crafts, bounce houses, door prizes, and more! This free, public resource center provides many opportunities for play and learning. The play space includes toys, structures that inspire imaginative play, and hands-on learning activities that encourage building and engineering. Recommended for kids ages 3-11Playing with your food isn’t a bad thing when every child can be an artist in the kitchen with food art. This library program is a full serving of fun. Kids and caregivers can make simple art from some of their favorite foods. Join the KHCPL Main staff for the program in Meeting Rooms A and B in the basement. Fun for the whole familyThe Kirkendall Nature Center is currently operating on its winter schedule with open hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The nature center is home to many Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department (KPRD) programs and activities, including creature features throughout the year. If you’ve never visited, it’s a great place to learn more about local wildlife species, plants, and insects. In addition to preserved and live animals, the nature center has games, books, and other hands-on activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Carver Community Center and Bridges Outreach “To the 10th Power”

For youth ages 12-17For just $5, local youth can join this exciting Friday night event. Participants can explore the Carver Center and take part in basketball, dodgeball, and Nerf wars throughout the evening. To participate in Nerf war activities, you must bring your own Nerf gun and ammo (no jelly blasters allowed). There is something for everyone, with karaoke, painting, and many other activity stations available. Free popcorn and water will be provided for participants. There are three big events happening in town today, so take your pick or visit all three for a full day of fun. Indiana Heartland Federal Credit Union’s Fall Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Solidarity Federal Credit Union’s Kids Community Halloween Party is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Trunk-or-Treat with Financial Center starts at 4 p.m.
