The New Baby Bunch meets weekly on Mondays at KHCPL South. This group is a great place to meet fellow caregivers. Being a first-time parent or caregiver can be difficult so this group is available to all looking for friendship, support, and the chance to share in their parenting journey. The Carver Center is excited to offer the chance for local youth to learn and grow their Chess skills and strategy. All ages and skill levels are welcome, but please bring your own board if you have one. Chess club is included in the Carver Center Membership at no extra cost, and others are welcome to join in for just $5 per day. Parents are encouraged to stay and play too. Help beat the heat and attend a summer Water Spray hosted by the Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department. Imagine running through the sprinkler in your backyard only bigger, huge actually. Pack swimsuits, sunscreen, and bring the whole family out to the water spray! These events are so fun and happen monthly at different local parks. KHCPL Russiaville- Outdoor Classroom | 2 to 3 p.m.You never know what animals you’ll get to meet when Hedgehog Hannah comes to town! This event is fun for all ages and will be held at all three of our KHCPL locations so you don’t miss out. Participants will learn about the guest animals, their habitats, and why wild animals need to stay wild. Your family will love this up close and personal opportunity. The experiences at KHCPL South and KHCPL Russiaville will be held outdoors, so bring a blanket or chair. See what other can’t miss library events are coming up next.

Storytime and Pottery Painting at Fired Arts Studio | 11- 12:30 p.m.

This is a workshop where little artists ages 3 and up are welcome to express themselves by decorating a beautiful piece of pottery at Fired Arts Studio with a parent or guardian. The workshop will begin with a story read aloud and then transitions to a fun themed project related to the story. A reservation is required because seating is limited. Help celebrate our nation’s independence and our automotive heritage at the Haynes Apperson Festival and parade. You can find the downtown parade route on the Haynes Apperson Festival Website. You can look forward to seeing familiar faces, representations from our local schools, community organizations and more. The festival is based at Foster park and ends with a fireworks display Saturday night.

Watching our Kokomo Jackrabbits play ball is a great way to spend a summer evening with your family and friends. Watch the Jackrabbits take on the Kenosha Kingfish from the backyard seats or reserved seats in the stadium. You can purchase tickets online or at the stadium, but be sure to check their promotional schedule for games that will feature fireworks and extra fun.
