It’s easy to say that Kokomo is so boring when you don’t know what’s going on in town. Even our kids love telling us how dull life can get when your days all look the same. We’re here with a new weekly fun calendar, hoping to encourage you and your family to try something new and experience more of what Kokomo has to offer. Start the week off with some fun and call Heritage lanes to check for open bowling availability. They have open bowling from 4-10 p.m. Mondays and a group of five can bowl for an hour for $40 (that includes those fancy bowling shoes). Bowling is an easy and fun activity for the whole family and you can grab some grub at Roddy’s while you’re there. Check out their website and Facebook page for last minute updates.

KHCPL offers many activities for little ones to help with literacy and cognitive development. Kindermusik is offered at varying times and multiple of our KHCPL locations. If you’ve never attended before, it’s a short and engaging experience where toddlers get to sing, dance and play musical instruments. Instead of having darts all over your house, take your kids to play with their favorite Nerf Guns at The Zone. During Open hours you can stop by and play for $10 per hour or arrange a private event. At this event, youth will focus on problem solving, creativity, and team work all while having fun with their friends. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) programs are opportunities for youth to explore and engage in hands-on and real-life experiences. This is a NEW workshop where artists ages 3 and up are welcome to express themselves by decorating a beautiful piece of pottery at Fired Arts Studio with a parent or guardian. The workshop will begin with a story read aloud and then transitions to a fun themed project related to the story. A reservation is required because seating is limited. Here’s your chance to see the astounding acts of the Peru Amateur Circus. The Western Circus and Carnival is a fundraiser for Turnabout Community Resource Center and Narrowgate Horse Ranch on Saturday. The carnival will be held throughout the event but the circus acts will perform shows beginning at 2 and 4 p.m. Tickets are available to purchase online and are also sold at the gate.

Fun for the Whole Family
The Kirkendall Nature Center is currently operating on their winter schedule with open hours on Tuesday and Thursday during the week and on Saturday and Sunday.The nature center is home to many Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department (KPRD) activities including creature features throughout the summer months. If you’ve never visited the nature center, it is a great place to learn more about local wildlife species, plants and insects. In addition to the preserved and live animals, the nature center has games, books, and other hands-on activities for the whole family to enjoy.
NOTE: The Kirkendall Nature Center is closed while undergoing some routine maintenance and will re-open on Saturday Feb. 24 with regular hours.
