We Care Trim-A-Tree Festival Returns to The Markland Mall

As the rest of the town rushes around, scouring Party City, Target, and Walmart for the perfect Halloween costumes, the We Care elves will be hard at work within the cozy confines of the Markland Mall, busy decking the halls for another enchanting Trim-A-Tree festival.

The We Care Trim-A-Tree festival returns Oct. 30, marking the start of the We Care season, bringing with it a festive spirit that's sure to light up the hearts of the Kokomo community.

On Oct. 29, after the mall doors will close to the public, it is quickly transformed into a magical space as volunteers and businesses descend upon it, ready to work their decorating magic on their Christmas trees, which will be auctioned off to the highest bidders on Nov. 12.

If you’ve never been to the festival, I think it’s something to behold. The event operates like a well-oiled machine, with the trees and wreaths already standing proudly along the mall's corridors, waiting to be decorated. What will these trees be decorated with, you ask? Well, the answer lies in the creativity of the participating businesses and organizations. It's a scene that can best be described as Santa's workshop, filled with tinsel, lights, and joyful Christmas tunes, all contributing to the festive atmosphere.

On Monday, Oct. 30, the mall doors will swing open once again, inviting the public to step into a winter wonderland even before they've had a chance to enjoy their Halloween candy. The Trim-A-Tree festival will run from Oct. 30 to Nov. 12, according to the We Care Facebook page.

The public is welcome to stroll through the halls, admiring the beautifully decorated trees, and toss their spare change into buckets to cast their votes for their favorites. The conclusion of the festival arrives on Nov. 12 as the votes are tallied and the live tree auction takes place at 5 p.m. One by one, the trees will go to the highest bidders, making for a memorable and heartwarming experience for both those participating and those simply witnessing the generosity of the community.

The We Care store will also reopen during the Trim-A-Tree festival, located at 1700 E. Sycamore St. This is the perfect opportunity for We Care enthusiasts to stock up on their favorite local treats like Doo-Dah, Stuff, Carmel Puffs, and We Care memorabilia and apparel.
