We Care Store Opens for the 2023 Season

The We Care season has once again kicked off in Kokomo, and it is one of my favorite times of year. I think it infuses the community with the spirit of Christmas, kindness, and unity.

The festivities are officially in full swing with the Trim-A-Tree festival running from Oct. 30 to Nov. 12 at the Markland Mall. I cherish this event, as I see it as symbol of the season, fostering a sense of togetherness among the residents of Kokomo. For those who don’t know, We Care is all-volunteer organization that raises funds to distribute to select local organizations that provide assistance to the disadvantaged and less fortunate as well as the mentally and physically challenged within the community.

But to me, the event just isn’t complete without the treats and accessories from the We Care Store! Located at 1700 E. Sycamore St., the We Care Store is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Nov. 11. It will then briefly close its doors before making a grand return on Dec. 1 for 72 hours during the annual We Care Telethon, which is scheduled Dec. 1 to 3.

I had to check out the store during kickoff week, and I was delighted to see many of the fan favorites, including Doo-Dah, Carmel Puffs, soup mixes and the famous cheeseballs. But there’s more to explore beyond the tasty treats. You can also find We Care apparel, puzzles, mugs, blankets, calendars, ornaments, and an array of other items. This year, they even have a special limited run of pink and blue tie-dyed crew neck sweatshirts.

Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the We Care Store and stock up on all the essentials you need to celebrate another year of this local charity.
