Wagons & Wheels Car Show Represents Inclusivity of Cars & Children

The first-ever Wagon and Wheels car show is putting inclusivity in the driver's seat, as it welcomes all cars, with a goal of opening doors for all children.

Registration is now open for the first-ever Wagon & Wheels Car Show! From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, you can enjoy live music, food and free family fun for a good cause.

Located at 1220 E. Laguna St. in Kokomo, Bona Vista’s Early Childhood Program serves 6 weeks old infants to 5-year-olds prior to Kindergarten.

Bona Vista’s hope with its two programs is to take the stress off of parents with services that don’t break the bank. With the federally funded Early Head Start program and the privately funded, sliding-scale, Keys for Kids program, Bona Vista currently serves more than 100 families in our community.

“Childcare is expensive, right? Our hope is with having a sliding-fee scale, families can have a more affordable rate,” said Bailley Maxwell, senior director of Early Childhood Services.

Through this car show, Bona Vista hopes to support both programs in different capacities.

“With the Early Head Start program, we are always looking to create free events to engage families in our community. While also raising money to continue funding Keys for Kids which is looking to double in size by the end of the year,” said Maxwell.

“I’m just excited for the event and to do something big for the public. We’ve been trying to do some community events lately, so this is the biggest one that we’re doing this year.”

At this event, you can find live music from The Time Travelers, breakfast and lunch served from Hawg Heaven, cotton candy from Sparkle Me Sweets and activities for kids including a scavenger hunt, a bubble station and so much more.

“We really are inclusive of all vehicles, just like our program is inclusive of all children, as long as it has wheels you can bring it,” said Maxwell.

Pre-registration is open now online for just $10 a vehicle. Day-of registrants are welcome for $15 a vehicle beginning at 9 a.m. on the day of the event. Click here to learn more.
