The Undebatable List Of The Best Summer Desserts in Kokomo
Hey Kokomo! It’s almost summertime. And that means it’s time for festivals, Kokomo Jackrabbits games, Kokomo Beach trips, and more. However, when you’re talking summer in Kokomo the amazing cold, sweet, dessert selection has to be a part of the conversation. We have incredible locally-owned shops like Scoops, Cone Palace, Frozen Custard, and more. We’ve done plenty of research in the past so we believe that this is the list of the best summer desserts in Kokomo. There’s no denying it. So don’t even try. In no particular order, here you have it:
1.Scoops Ice Cream - Blueberry Waffle Cone
For all of you people who are watching your carbs, this one's for you. Blueberries are a low carb berry AND the cone is in the ice cream so you can go low carb and get it in a cup. You’re basically ordering a salad from Chipotle to skip the tortilla or rice. BAM. KETO.
2. Cone Palace - Puppy Chow Arctic Swirl
Is puppy chow a Hoosier thing? If so then it is time to show your Hoosier pride and order a Puppy Chow Arctic Swirl from Cone Palace. Pro-Tip, order it with chocolate soft serve instead of vanilla ice cream. You’re welcome.
3. Scoops Ice Cream - Old Fashioned Strawberry Shake
Made just like your grandma used to. Literally, my grandma used to make this and then promise me it tasted better than the one at Scoops. It didn’t, but I’m not a bad person so I lied to her. Sorry, grams.
4. Kokomo Frozen Custard - Butter Pecan
Here’s the thing about this one. It’s perfect. I don’t know how they do it, but it tastes so good and so fresh every time. Another pro-tip, get it with hot fudge on top.
5. Cone Palace - Banana Treat
If you’re in the mood to feel like you’re at the Kokomo that the Beach Boys were singing out, this is the ice cream treat for you. It’s a mix of banana, pineapple, strawberries mixed in chocolate & vanilla ice cream.
6. Cone Palace - The Gold Brick Arctic Swirl
Feeling a little extra? Treat yourself to arguably the platinum standard for summer treats in Kokomo, Cone Palace's (former) hidden menu item, The Gold Brick Arctic Swirl. It's one of our staff's favorites. It's a combo of vanilla soft serve, crunch coat topping, heath bar, and caramel swirled together to create one of the best treats in Kokomo. One bite and you'll know why it got its name.
7. Scoops - The Banana Split
Just picture yourself in a 1950’s diner. Elvis playing a jukebox, the wait staff is wearing rollerblades even though that seems an extremely unsafe choice of footwear for a job where you’re constantly surrounded by water or other liquids on the floor that easily cause someone to slip and fall even with shoes with excellent gripping abilities and then you also have a banana split in front of you. It kind of feels like that.
8. Kokomo Frozen Custard - Strawberry And Vanilla Snowshake
We know. It sounds like these shouldn’t make sense, but they do. It’s a strawberry slushy topped with vanilla frozen custard. It sounds like it might have come out of a crazy science lab, but also a crazy science lab that makes delicious things to eat in summer.
9. Scoops - Dole Whip
You might have had this at a summer fair or at Disney World, but did you know that real, legit Dole Whip is in Kokomo at Scoops! Pro-tip, add real coconut on top and you’re basically in Hawaii. Just saying.
10. Kokomo Frozen Custard - Strawberry Shortcake
This is easily the best strawberry shortcake that isn’t homemade. Adding the vanilla custard on top compared to vanilla ice cream really make this go to the next level.
