Game of the Week: Northwestern Tigers vs. Taylor Titans (Quick Recap)
QUICK RECAP
The annual rivalry game between Northwestern and Taylor lived up to its reputation as a hard-fought, four-quarter battle. Both teams arrived at a packed Northwestern High School determined to secure a victory.
Taylor closed the first quarter with a 13-9 lead, thanks to Keyshawn Galloway’s buzzer-beating 3-pointer. That shot sparked momentum for the Titans heading into the second quarter, where disciplined defense became the hallmark of their play. Taylor’s defensive intensity forced Northwestern into taking several contested shots, limiting the Tigers’ scoring opportunities.
Despite Taylor maintaining the lead throughout the game, Northwestern refused to back down. Head coach Jim Gish deployed a variety of half-court and full-court defensive schemes that briefly rattled the Titans. However, Taylor weathered the Tigers’ surges and secured a 45-36 victory over their county rival.
