Rivalry games often produce some of the biggest moments in sports, and that was the case when the Kokomo BobKats hosted the Lebanon Leprechauns in the first game of what the two teams have dubbed the Battle of the Belt. The traveling belt adds to the appeal when the two teams compete. In the first meeting of the season, Kokomo came away with a 119-105 win.

The BobKats got off to a quick start, scoring the first six points of the game. Their defensive intensity forced Lebanon into numerous contested shots. By the end of the first quarter, Kokomo held a comfortable 35-26 lead.

The second quarter followed a similar pattern, with the BobKats controlling the pace and executing their game plan. Trae Barber provided a big boost, finding his rhythm and knocking down multiple 3-pointers. Kokomo took a 63-52 lead into halftime.

The third quarter was intense as both teams, familiar with each other, elevated their play. Josh Rivers continued his steady performance, while Lebanon started connecting on key shots. Despite the Leprechauns’ surge, Kokomo maintained a 93-83 lead heading into the final period.

The BobKats delivered in the fourth quarter, making key defensive stops down the stretch to secure the win.

Kokomo and Lebanon will meet again Monday, March 17, at 7:05 p.m. at Farmers Bank Fieldhouse in Lebanon.
