The City of Kokomo Launches Text My Gov

The city of Kokomo announced Monday the launch of its new AI-driven messaging service, “Text My Gov.” With the aim of enhancing general interactions between residents and the local government, this innovative platform provides an easily accessible channel for citizens to seek information, report concerns, and engage with city officials.

Mayor Tyler Moore highlighted the importance of effective communication, stating,

“Communication is essential to maintaining a solid relationship between government and residents,” Moore said in a press release Monday, adding that Text My Gov allows residents to obtain information and report issues such as potholes or code violations around the clock.

Here’s how it works:

By texting "HI" to 765-470-4055, users can initiate a conversation with the city and prompt a response to their query or concern. The system utilizes keywords to categorize inquiries, directing users to appropriate responses or information sources. Residents can text the relevant keyword to receive an automated response or a link to the City of Kokomo’s website for more detailed information.

Expanding its utility beyond information and issue reporting, Text My Gov offers an opt-in feature for notifications from City Hall. By texting designated keywords to 765-470-4055, residents can receive reminders for upcoming events, programs, concerts, safety notifications, public meetings, and contests. For instance, subscribing to general alerts can be as simple as texting the keyword "Kokomo," while those interested in road closures or traffic updates can subscribe by texting “KokomoRoads.”

Here’s a list of keywords to keep handy so you can start utilizing Text My Gov:
